In between the Auvergne in the North, the Pyrenees in the South, the Ardeche in the East and the Atlantic Ocean in the West flows the Dordogne. This river has since long attracted tourists from all over the world. Most famous are Medieval Sarlat UNESCO World Heritage Site (in the heart of 'Périgord Noir') and the Lascaux caves and on the Causse du Quercy the Gouffre du Padirac and Rocamadour, a Renaissance style village built against the cliff.

The area of  the valleys of Dordogne and Vézère with prehistoric caves all over the place makes this region filled with many prehistoric treasures you can sit back and believe time has stood still. One item you must also not forget and that is the wonderful French food with many local delights to flavour. The regions best known specialties are ‘Fois Gras’ truffles and preserved meat ‘confit’. 
In Sarlat enjoy the markets on Saturday and Wednesday and its galeries and shopping centre in the old city. Visit the cave of Lascaux and come back to the Dordogne valley. From here a nice cycling rip to Rocamadour, the second tourist attraction of France with its beautiful small canyon of the Gorge de l'Ouysse. Dordogne valley
The beautiful Dordogne valley provides the scenery for a relaxing biking tours. You'll have enough time to visit beautiful medieval villages like Souillac, Sarlat, Les Eyzies de Tayac and Rocamadour.

Starting day: every day.  
Start in Souillac at 4 hours travelling by train from Paris.

In Souillac you can leave your car in a secure parking of the hotel at € 7,- per night.

The nearest airport from UK to these walking tours is Bergerac or Limoges (Ryanair).
Transfer to first hotel in Souillac is not included. Train Bergerac-Souillac € 25,-

From North America best is to fly into Paris or to Toulouse.
Bus and train  connection from Toulouse to Souillac € 40,-
By train from Paris Austerlitz: leave at 7:09h, 9:09h; 9:39h or 13:56h.

Arrival in Souillac after 4h30min. Fare: 2nd class: € 60,- , 1st class € 90.- .

From Souillac back to Paris: leave at 07:05 or 09:03 or 13:10. Arrival in Paris after 4h30min.
