This biking tour is designed for family with children from 10 on, who like biking in a hilly to mountainous environment but at the same time avoid climbing and long distances. You’ll be in the Tarn Valley and the Canyons de la Dourbie. You will stay 3x in hotels with swimming pools and there will be enough time for children to have fun, swimming in the river or do a canoe trip.
You will be cycling through 3 river valleys: Tarn, Dourbie (Canyons) and Sorgues.

You will visit a 10-12th century Templars city: La Couvertoirade and a archetypical 9th - 13th century castle in Brousse-le-Château.
In Broquiès you can make a canoe trip from the hotel in July and August.
You will see a splendid and ever changing scenery with hilly mountains, canyons, plateaus, villages and small towns.

Albi, the city of the famous painter of Moulin Rouge and Aristide Bruant, Toulouse Lautrec, is moreover worth your visit because of its cathedral and its nice old town centre.

You will be starting in Albi. Via the spectacular Gorges de la Dourbie and a Templars village you'll pass the Valley of the Sorgues in the Pays de Roquefort and St. Affrique and come back in Albi.

Tarn valley.

When biking the whole old railway line up to St. Affrique (8-day tour) you will ride past 6 railway bridges and through 10 railway tunnels. For holiday makers who don't like tunnels: you will be able to avoid the longer ones (more than 100m).

Albi is a beautiful, Southern Italian like town along the Tarn river. With its famous architecture, alike Toulouse, from which it is only 75 kms away, its cathedral, of the times of the Cathares and its Museum Toulouse Lautrec it is a perfect start and end for a family cycling holiday. Restaurants and hotels in this trip are of excellent quality.
Albi, UNESCO World Heritage Centre.
On the banks of the Tarn river in south-west France, the old city of Albi reflects the culmination of a medieval architectural and urban ensemble. Today the Old Bridge (Pont-Vieux), the Saint-Salvi quarter and its church are testimony to its initial development (10th -11th centuries). Following the Albigensian Crusade against the Cathar heretics (13th century) it became a powerful episcopal city. Built in a unique southern French Gothic style from local brick in characteristic red and orange colours, the lofty fortified Cathedral (late 13th century) dominates the city, demonstrating the power regained by the Roman Catholic clergy. Alongside the Cathedral is the vast bishop’s Palais de la Berbie, overlooking the river and surrounded by residential quarters that date back to the Middle Ages. The Episcopal City of Albi forms a coherent and homogeneous ensemble of monuments and quarters that has remained largely unchanged over the centuries.

Millau viaduct

Kms indicated  is the minimum you'll have to bike. The route descriptions will also provide longer tours for each day if you wish.

The last stage from Brousse-le-Château to Albi is somewhat longer than the others. But the road is lightly down all of the time.
